Busy Week At The Ranch

This is my very first blog so I hope everyone will be kind about their future comments.  The Forever Home Feline Ranch has had a phenominal week with adoptions - 13 kittens and cats have found new forever homes!  I am thrilled that people have given our older cats a new home.  As a result of these adoptions, we have taken in some new residents at the Ranch.  Kittens are adorable and no one can dispute that.  But older cats have character too!  So if you are looking for adorable or character, we probably have a match at the Ranch!  Come see us at Ace Hardware on Walnut every 1st and 3rd Saturday from 11 am - 2 pm, and every 2nd Saturday and Sunday at Petsmart from 11 am to 3 pm.  Here is a shameless plug......We need cat trees in the worst way!  Our new cat room is almost complete.  The cats love tall cat trees and we sorely need some.  Please think about helping us get several of these cat neccessities at the Ranch!

Thank you - Brenda

  1. Hi Brenda, My name is Kathey "Kat" Reed. My husband Lee and I love animals, and along with our 3 children have had several various pets over the years.
I want to take this opportunity to commend you and the others working to get the project accomplished.
I am delighted that the Trivia night has been rescheduled. I found out the first event date and thought we had missed it,
When our last dog, Chewy died, it was a great loss to us. And one of our 3 cats, a male named Franklin died last December. Many tears were shed. We took Franklin, his mother, and his siblings in when they were born. We had a little house for them on our enclosed back porch. Dolly had appeared at our door one day, very small, and needy. We fed her planning to adopt her into our family and our cat Teddy, also female. Things were going well until Dolly got pregnant. Long story short, of 6 kittens born, 5 were adopted. (I cried after each one left.) Franklin remained, and so we now had a kit family of three. He was so lovable and gentle.
Animals know: After that cats just seemed to gravitate to our hjome. At least every 2-3 weeks a cat would show up right next to our back steps. We found homes for 6 more cats. I must also mention that in that time we took care of our neighbor's cat until she died at the age of 14. The vet was amazed as she was raised an outside cat. However our neighbor had special warm housing for her in his garage in the winter and a comfortable area for her in the summer. We did the same for her. She died of a stroke.
All of our pet family has really been a blessing. Our children are all grown and married now with children of their own. And I'm proud to say they have had several types of cats all from shelters. They have been beautiful, gentle, funny, loving, and most of all special to their families.
I think having a pet makes us better people.
In short: I would like very much to help in some way. I am on Social Security Disability because I have Parkinsons's. However my medication is pretty good at keeping me going. Actually I am pretty active.
So please contact me online or call me at 217-364-5542. God Bless you all.
